Many large cooperatives have closed or scrapped their waitlists because they were full years in advance. Others open them from time to time, often for just a few days, or keep an “interest list” from which suitable households are contacted when a flat becomes available.
Types of list
- Classic waitlist: Order by date of registration (now rare).
- Interest list / applicant pool: No order; the letting team picks suitable dossiers.
- No list: Only listings for vacant flats. Here, only a fast alert helps.
Is signing up worth it?
Yes, if it is free or cheap and covers the area you want. Make a note of whether your registration needs renewing (many lists expire after 6–12 months without confirmation).
